This document provides an overview of how the search feature works when looking for either a Parent Company on the Company form or choosing a Company on the Contact form.

When entering alpha numeric characters, the search looks for the word you have typed where it is ‘contained’ in either a Company name, or the Company City. In addition, it will be sorted alphabetically by Company name.
You also have the ability to enter more than one word separated by a space. In this case you can enter two words in an attempt to find a better match: i.e. a search like “Target Phoenix” may return Target stores in the City of Phoenix.
If you type only numbers, it does a search for not only the Company name and/or City, but the Company ID as well.
The search initially only returns the first 25 (or less) matching records. To load additional matches, you can simply use the scroll bar to scroll to the bottom of the list.
Dropdown Key
Lock icons = Private Company
Hierarchy symbol = Parent Company
Child Company = Parent company shown in parenthesis
Internal records will be highlighted yellow
