Problem

When I run a search for a word with an international or special character (such as Montréal), I don’t get the results I expect.

Solution

You may need to change your browser settings if you are using Internet Explorer 11:

International characters

  1. Go to Tools → Internet Options

  2. Go to the Advanced tab

  3. Under the International* section:

    1. Check the box to ‘Send UTF-8 query strings for Intranet URLs’

    2. Check the box to ‘Send UTF-8 query strings for non-Intranet URLs’

  4. Click OK

  5. Once the settings have been adjusted, close and reopen a new browser
